Week 11 Exercise

Character Animation This exercise was super fun. I started out by making the lowman figure move up and down, just to test the motions, and see what I could make him do. Then, I worked on created a walk cycle. It was a bit tricky to figure out, but I eventually got it working with a bit of effort. I thought the walk cycle looked a little stiff though, and wanted to add a bit more character. I added a little bit of length, making the figure take two steps before looping instead of one. I tried to make the motions as natural as possible, and think I did a pretty good job. Overall I thought moving this guy around was pretty fun, and I'm definitely going to play around with this in the future!

Week 10 Exercise

Animation Last week I created a simple camera animation, but it was very hard to keep it from wobbling.   After fiddling with the camera for a while, I decided that it would be much better to focus on the animations of the objects in the scene while I sorted that out. I made all of the planets move a tiny bit. However this was kind of short, and also looks a bit stiff, so I wasn't totally sold on it either. I'll probably end up combining the two somehow, and making the planet movement more fluid!

Week 9 Exercise

Cinematography For this exercise, we had to create a cinematic scene. I chose to revamp and add to one of my current scenes, from earlier in the semester. First, I got rid of the default ambient light in the scene. Then, I tried to create a directional light onto the rocket ship, to make it pop in the scene. After doing that, I added another directional light off to the side. I made this light weaker, and also purple, to give more of an ambient feel while still being directional, to make it seem off in the far distance. All planet textures from solarsystemscope.com! Lastly, I tried to create a bit of camera animation, but it was SO hard to get it to look smooth for some reason, so I will definitely look more into it next week.

Week 8 Midterm Feedback

I very much enjoyed seeing everyone's midterm projects, and I thought a lot of people had a lot of really cool ideas. I liked seeing how everyone went about tackling their vision and executing it in the best possible way. I especially liked Alex's project . I liked the little snowman, and I think you're maybe one of the only people to have kind of a bit of character animation in their project, which I know can be difficult. I think that the Snowmen move around well, and the lighting is definitely pretty good for the scene. I think a lot of people might be drawn to a neutral colored light, but I liked the orange light that you used, it looks like it is maybe sunset. I liked the style of the snowmen as well. It's simple, but definitely keeps a style that is consistent with the igloo as well, which I think looked great. I also really liked Stephannie's project , I thought that the shading looked super nice and polished, and the lighting looked really good as well. I kn...
